Yesterday I went on a quick trip to Memphis, Tennessee. Now, "quick trip" literally means that: there and back the same day, about a 2.5 hour drive one way. A friend of mine from church invited me to go to the Memphis Temple and so we did. It was a really lovely drive past wooded areas and then flat farmland before crossing the Mississippi River. Golly, the Mississippi is big. That's all I can say. I doubt we were even on the widest point.
Afterwards we dined at the India Palace restaurant where the flirtatious waiter told me that he knew of many Filipinos who can speak Indian languages. How nice.
Once we were in Memphis proper I felt that we were in a real city, and Little Rock was simply a vast suburb in comparison. We definitely want to make a proper touristy visit before decamping. How can I be so close to Graceland and not go? Especially for MohamedBob's sake, we need to see as many important cultural landmarks as possible.
