Tagged from JaneAnne: welcome to the Bloggosphere, JA!

Hardback or trade paperback or mass-market paperback? Any.
Amazon or brick and mortar? Amazon mainly. Maybe if I lived in a different place with more bookstores?
Barnes & Noble or Borders? Neither.
Bookmark or dog-ear? Bookmark.
Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random? Category, then alpha by author.
Keep, throw away, or sell? All three.
Keep dustjacket or toss it? Keep it.
Read with dustjacket or remove it? Read with.
Short story or novel? Either.
Collection (short stories by same author) or anthology (short stories by different authors)? Either. (Gosh, how did I get so boring about books?)
Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket? If you know where the title of my blog came from, then you know this answer.
Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks? Chapter breaks.
"It was a dark and stormy night" or "Once upon a time"? Neither.
Buy or Borrow? Borrow mainly. Buy only for keepers (reference books, rarities). Still, most of our 5,000 lb shipment was books.
New or used? Used.
Buying choice: book reviews, recommendation or browse? Less browsing now, due to paucity of bookstores and convenience of the internet.
Tidy ending or cliffhanger? Tidy ending, please.
Morning reading, afternoon reading or nighttime reading? Any time is the right time.
Standalone or series? Either.
Favorite book of which nobody else has heard? The Makioka Sisters
Favorite book(s) read last year: Oh gosh. I re-read perenniel favorites like Home Cooking and More Home Cooking.
Favorite books of all time? Don't make me choose!

So you're a 'courtly reader' then? (Ann Fadiman, Ex Libris, Confessions of a Common Reader)

One of my favorite books!

I guess I'm semi-carnal. I would not go as far as ripping pages while I'm reading along, but I'm not adverse to a little book abuse.

Isn't it wonderful?!

I used to be a fairly courtly reader, but more and more I'm embracing the carnal. Bookcrossing has something to do with that, and my bad habit of eating and reading at the same time ...

Me too. Many many books in our possession have splatters of various somethings on them - couscous, spaghetti sauce, etc. Sounds rather revolting, actually.

Are you going to Hay on Wye?!

I'd love to go there, but without a car it's a little tricky to get to. Also I suspect it could do some serious damage to my bank balance, which is already rather shaky! I can perhaps hire a car. Will have to think on that.

Not to mention the logistics of lugging all those heavy books back to Oz.... I mailed tons of stuff back to CA from Canberra and it arrived in these nice Australia Post canvas sacks.
