I actually have a list of activities titled "post-holiday winter fun" since January and February can be a downer with the weather and the general malaise that starts on January 2nd. At least we have Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day, and Presidents' Day to look forward to - and, eventually, spring!
I can't believe I forgot to post about my testimony before the National Capital Planning Commission about Haupt Garden. There was a write-up in the WaPo - I guess the reporter remembered me from last time and decided not to mention me again. It was intimidating to speak in front of a technical body and in front of senior Smithsonian people, but it happened and I'm glad I did it. (video on Facebook)
We were able to get tickets to Community Day on MLKJ's birthday at the National Museum of African-American History and Culture. MoBob and I agreed that we would have to return, on multiple visits, without Z. (Z has already gone with his class.) We enjoyed the crafting activity and strolling around the upper galleries, as well as the live music.
