Of course I came down with a vicious cold. Ugh. We leave for the Philippines tomorrow and we have friends who'll be staying in our place while we're gone and how the heck do we keep a 4 year old happy for a 20+ trip without going insane ourselves?
I had an uneventful trip back to the US at least. My last day in Dar was a lovely "momcation" with shopping and lunch with a friend, a nap, and a swim. The flight to the US included a group of American teenagers returning from a Europe trip and a group of African teenagers on a leadership program. I was struck by the casual indifference to international travel by the Americans and the contained excitement of the Africans. I also overheard this discussion by the ladies across the aisle: "Is the temperature in degrees or farenheit?" "It's in degrees."
Sunday we met up with R for pancakes and then it was off to an Easter egg hunt at our local river side park. I took a long nap and realized that I was starting all the classic symptoms of a cold. A visit to the doctor confirmed the cold as well as a double-ear infection. My body is falling apart!
