MoBob returned from South Africa late but safe, and brought lots of African goodies. In the meantime, we had a fun weekend. Since Uncle Skouri was caught in traffic coming from Baltimore, we took Uber Family to the Hill Center for a concert by Innov Gnawa, a New York-based Moroccan group.
My red tambourine.
On Saturday we had a playdate with our Virginia mommy group, where all the kids shyly engaged in parallel play. We went home for a nap and then checked out Magic Ground, a new indoor playground in Columbia Heights. (conveniently on top of the Target) The reception welcome was a little uneven but the facilities were fantastic as were the staff who engaged regularly with the kids. Z spent most of his time in the coloring/TV room, the playhouse, and the vehicle section.
Sunday was pretty mellow. Z was totally conked out from Saturday so I let him sleep in. Then we walked and took the bus to the Parcel Market, where we ran into another neighborhood family whose little boy is the same age. After another nap Z accompanied me to a visiting teaching appointment.
Z has been working on getting dressed by himself, especially shoes, socks, and jackets. It's hard to see him frustrated but he's definitely making progress. He has his last speech therapy appointment this week. He now says "I love you" and "Mommy pretty" which makes any offense forgivable.
