I was in the neighborhood so I ducked into Freer and Sackler galleries, and strolled through Unearthing Arabia, about a tremendous dig in what is now Yemen, and The Traveler's Eye, which showed different perspectives of travel in the region. Sadly, the Philippines was not featured in the latter exhibit. Afterwards I had a quick snack at Vie de France, which was just OK. It's not open on the weekends so a family visit is unlikely.
On Saturday we went to the Christmas party at the Alliance Française where we ran into friends from the daycare, and built a small but heavily-candied house. We missed out on another French Christmas party for kids that afternoon, so we decided instead to visit the Washington DC temple for the Festival of Lights. It was very crowded but we managed to see the nativity exhibit and I was happy to see that several works were from Africa, and one from the Philippines with a sad-looking water buffalo. I substituted in nursery on Sunday and Baby Z was happy to stay as long as I was there. He got a haircut with MoBob, and then the following day we had to make an unexpected trip to the ER because Baby Z had some trouble walking, but now he's back to his jumping/running/hopping self.

MB helped Zacky and Philippe with the House of Nutella.
This month's issue of Highlights also featured a little boy getting a haircut.
