This is, sadly, my last week of maternity leave, and the SIL leaves next week. Baby Z is now three months old. We are still working on the childcare arrangements but we have some promising leads at least. I feel like my summer is almost over.
I lost a week because we had to move stuff in and out so that the bedbug guy could spray our home, and then I got laryngitis. But it was a pretty busy time. Last weekend we went to the family session for our PACE group, and it was great to meet all the husbands and see everyone all together, for the last time, at least formally. Then we went to a long, extended Moroccan dinner. Oddly, there weren't any books in the house; instead there was a TV in every room, even though the two kids (who weren't there) were of the Harry Potter generation. On Sunday we finally had Baby Z's blessing. A wonderful experience, and MoBob presented Z before and after the blessing and held the microphone during. I really felt the love from the members of our congregation and of our Heavenly Parents, though I was conscious that MB and I sat in the front row by ourselves, compared to the usual scrum of family during other blessings. That night we had our supper club over for a potluck to meet Baby Z. They are among the many friends whom we count as family since ours are so far away.
We've had a couple of interesting retail experiences recently. I took the metro to Union Market to meet up with my mommy group. When we lived in Capitol Hill we used to go to the area more regularly since MB went to the hallal stores there. Very weird to walk into an industrial area and then happen upon a hipster haven. This past weekend we ventured further into the suburbs and visited the Mosaic District. More accurately, we went to the Target in the Mosaic District. We'd actually been in that area a couple of years ago, for dinner at Four Sisters (Best Vietnamese Food Ever) and the adjoining parcel was just a construction site. I wasn't really impressed but I guess it's a huge improvement for the neighborhood.
