MoBob and I talked about what we should do since I'm not feeling Bassou *at all* except for some weird gurgles that I can't distinguish from the usual tummy noise. On Friday morning I called the triage nurse and she said I needed to come in. I went - and everything is OK. Bassou's heartbeat was regular and strong, and the doctor ordered another ultrasound. Since I wasn't experiencing any other symptoms she told me not to worry. The nurse suggested drinking juice or something else with sugar but it doesn't seem to help. I drink orange juice and a diet coke pretty much every day without results. Last night MB and I shone a flashlight on my tummy but no dice. Bassou is very sly indeed.
After emails to over 20 people and three phone interviews (one of whom ended up going with another client anyway), I have engaged a doula. I had a good feeling from our chat and so we met for breakfast at the IHOP in Columbia Heights. S had excellent references and was very chill and reassuring in person. Maybe I'm really shallow but what clinched the decision for me was when she talked about her upbringing - though she's a classic Scottish blonde she grew up in Lebanon and studied Arabic in Egypt.
Do you have an anterior placenta (ie the placenta is at the "front" of your tummy)? That can really delay when you start feeling movement.
I've had friends not feel their babies until almost the 3rd tri. I hope you start feeling Bassou soon! It's an extremely cool feeling :)
