MoBob leaves for three weeks in Morocco on Friday (!!!) and so he won't be around to vote in person or, more importantly, to see the second sonogram and test results where we'll find out if Bassou is a Soraya Beatrice or a Zacharia Salvador.
I've already enlisted the home teachers to help out with some painting, and I've planned some fun activities while he's gone, like star-gazing and going to the Arabian Sights film festival. Still...when he returns I'll probably be much bigger and we'll know so much more about Bassou.
The ongoing dilemma right now is about childcare. I can't believe I'm already paying money to put our unborn child on several waitlists. One of the more compelling reasons to move back overseas is affordable household help, but I just can't see myself working overseas again, though MB is enthusiastic. One particularly Washingtonian conversation I had was with another colleague (due in November) when we agreed that if we hired a nanny we need to be completely above-board, in case one of us or our spouses is up for a political appointment. *sigh*
Wow, that IS a very Washingtonian conversation! Mine, being in Kinshasa, have been more like, If you decide to have a kid while flying solo, you should definitely work overseas because then you can just throw money at the problem. Umm... thanks? I was thinking it would be cool to not have 12-hour days and to spend time with a kid!
Are these your official names? They are great!
Not sure yet about the Haiti trip...but I got the OK to travel til January so I might see you there!
Middle names are my parents'; first names are "officially accepted" in Morocco names that sounds reasonable in the US.
I can imagine that is so stressful to have him gone just now! What a momentous few weeks for you (and America, but mostly you!) the names you've picked are just lovely. Do you have a "feeling" about the sex? I did but I was wrong!
