I worked from home on Friday, but went to see the USAID Philippines mission director, a Filipina-American, speak. She seemed very cool. MoBob and three of his colleagues formed a monthly supper club and for our inaugural dinner last night we went to Me Jana for Lebanese food. MB was fasting and asked that his dinner wait to be served until sundown, around 8pm. The food and company were excellent, and we missed the heavy downpours.
This morning I went to the local elementary school, conveniently only a couple of blocks away, for DCPS Beautification Day for our ward service activity. We weeded the playground, and were done after about an hour. I went to the National Museum of Women in the Arts for the exhibit on the Guerilla Girls. I wandered around in the cool interiors, and then wandered around some more through the delights of Utretch Art Supply. The sales clerk laughed when I registered for their frequent buyer program as "patron of the arts." This evening MB and I went to the open house of a lovely young people who were just married in the Salt Lake temple.
I tried to feel cool and wintry while staring at this painting.
