My life, in bullets:

* Stacy London's visit to our fair city
So in the end everyone refused to nominate me for What Not to Wear: DC Edition, except for a kind soul who said she'd submit on my behalf if I'd write up the email for her. Nevertheless, I trooped down to the nearest Ann Taylor one lunch time to see SL, who was much less gray in person than expected. I forgot to bring my camera. Just as well, as she explictly hated on my monkey tote and badge/lanyard, but she did say that I didn't look my weight/size.

* visit to USDA's Agricultural Research Center
See cow photo below, and my fashion blog for what to wear to see said cow(s).

* Exponent II retreat
Oh how I love the ladies of Exponent. This year I gave a presentation on LDS humanitarian work, and it engendered a great discussion on doing more than just quilting (though quilting's important). This year we were in New Hampshire, at the Barbara C. Harris Center, named after the first woman Anglican bishop.

Aslan's altar.

Otter Lake.

Hanging out on the beach.

A touch of fall.

Two of the silver foxes: Judy Dushku and Laurel Thatcher Ulrich.

* National Book Festival
For some reason the tents were set up much farther from the Smithsonian Metro station than in previous years; and it was broiling hot. I saw Isabelle Allende speak, and then wandered around.

The group reading of the Exquisite Corpse Adventure.

The crowd for Laura Bush.

Jonathan Franzen from far away.

The Obama pile.

You have to make an appointment but it's open to the public. Lots of fun - a bit geeky.
