A couple of days ago when I was returning from an early evening skating session, I exited Eastern Market metro and found a photographer with his lens trained on me.
His email with the attached photo:
Sylvia, thanks for being such a good sport. It was a long day for me and you were such a wonderful way to end my day. I hope to reward you in some way for being the lucky 11th 11th 11th, but as yet I’m not sure how. I’ll be out of town for a week but will get back to you. Tom
it's the 11th, 11 different street corners, every 11th person walking by, 11 times. it's fascinating the different reactions people give when having their photograph taken candidly. some aware with a smile, others pseudo-famous hiding their face behind their hand or bag. others just go on about their day. i said to each person, "you're the 11th" and few asked what i meant. one person has threatened legal action. it's funny, i'm standing on the street, camera around my neck in plain sight. yet, seldom do people complain about the numerous images taken of them by bank cameras, municipal cameras, convenience store cameras...etc. what do they do with your images?
