From the Washington Post: 50 Women Named Muslim Preachers in Morocco
From Al-Jazeera: Morocco gets first women preachers
I haven't been to any other countries in the Middle East/North Africa region (apart from Turkey which is another special case) so my perspective is really limited. I was impressed though with my women colleagues, the majority of whom wore headscarves, religious and observant and yet also well-educated and open-minded. What a great role model for village girls to see a young woman speaking perfect Berber and modestly dressed driving a 4x4 Toyota Hilux pick-up with heavy equipment in the back.
