I will regret these words once the heat and humidity really kick in, but I don't think I'm the only Washingtonienne who's tired of the recent deluges (plural). In fact, I'm amazed that the tennis team is in first place given how many practices have been rained out.

MoBob's friend, who wrote a children's book called The Butter Man with his wife, is coming for a brief visit. MB emailed, "Hi honey, Butter Man is coming late, he has just left his house now, it is always Moroccan Time even he lived here for 20 years."

Hurricane season started on June 1st, and I'm currently following two storms, one hovering between the Philippines and Taiwan, and the other off the coast of Mexico. One thing I learned about storms: if a storm is given a name, that's A Bad Sign.

What an interesting children's books. It is a shame that there aren't more children's books that embrace culture and background.

It's a very cute book indeed. I think the books are out there, just in fewer places.

I just see so many second, third and fourth generation American born children that have no sense of culture, no interest in learning the language, etc. It is a shame. My ex was from an Italian family, his grandmother was born near Sicily and he had not one iota of interest in anything...not in learning to speak the language, cook the food, nothing. It seems such a shame to have that sort of identity just slip away.

Hey there, our chickens are suffering from heat exhaustion and, well, they can't come in. I'll try to keep the heat from making it's way up there.
