Though I had a really short week, what with the Veteran's Day holiday and two days out with a cold, it seems like the weekend is passing at warp speed. Today MoBob and I visited communist northern Virginia for decidedly capitalist activities. MB decided to quit DHL (just as well as DHL is quickly tanking) and picked up his last check while I wandered around the shopping center. I stepped into Linens 'n Things and quickly stepped out again. I was sad to see that the store was completely liquidating its stock due to bankruptcy and couldn't get into the shopping mood knowing that the employees are facing imminent unemployment and there would soon be a big gaping space in the mall. We ended up in Marshalls where half the customers seemed to be foreign tourists with fully loaded shopping carts and paying hundreds of dollars in cash. Afterwards, lunch at the pseudo-Mexican restaurant. It's been a long time since we've had an excursion like that.
I ordered tickets for the Jazz Hip-Hop Nutracker. The performance is at the local school, the same place where I voted. MB has never seen any version of The Nutcracker before so I hope this doesn't spoil him for the actual ballet.
