I have an unexpected meeting this morning on behalf of our office in Burundi so my original plans to visit MoMA are shelved for the moment. I'm sure I'll be back - and I'll have more time to reflect on why I like San Francisco more than New York City, why I can handle any city in Africa better than Gotham, and why Europeans love this city so much. Also: why does the UN allow smoking but doesn't have a recycling program?
My favorite New York stories, in no particular order:
The Smoker by David Schickler
My Misspent Youth by Meghan Daum
Alone in a Kitchen with an Eggplant by Laurie Colwin (from Home Cooking)
the first few chapters of The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
