the multi-bag solution?

I've noticed that I've joined the phenomenon of people (women, mostly) of carrying around more than one bag. Often I see women with (1) a purse (2) a briefcase or laptop bag and (3) a lunch bag.

I have a large-ish bag with all my daily stuff, and a spiffy Target tote bag (free from the National Book Festival) with things that I need to bring back and forth from home, like my lunch or documents. This works well most of the time, except for the fundamental problem that I am carrying around two bags. I'm not really sure what the solution is. One ginormous bag? No thank you. Leave some stuff at home? The horror, the horror! So I continue to lug.

What I really want (apart from the Star Trek transporter) is a Mary Poppins carpet bag or a Hermione Granger bottomless beaded bag.

We finally got the French version of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows via Canada Post from Librairie Gallimard in Montréal. The cover art looks, I don't know, a little lame. Harry looking thoughtfully over a sea cliff? How...French. MoBob swears up and down he won't start reading until the TOEFL is over.

I am tired, oh so tired. Deep sea diver, fogged over, tired.

I have this bag, except of course in purple. It's too big to fit on my lap on the bus though, so I'm sure other riders are annoyed by my gigantic purse. It's super-handy though since it really does carry everything, shoes, food, make-up, books, etc.

Thanks! I've been half-heartedly perusing ebags.com but haven't looked at ebay.

Skip eBay - that's twice as much as I paid for it at Ross!

*grins* The Star Trek transporter has always been number one on my wish list. I absolutely loath traveling, commuting etc... ah well one can always hope...

Hope you recover from your exhaustion soon and do wish MoBob all the very best for his TOEFL.

Thanks! Why am I so tired if I'm healthy, not pregnant, and am not running after little ones? :/

True - my hibernation instinct must be coming out - though I felt tired too during the summer when it was so humid. Gah. I can't win.

I know your pain! More than one bag or even a big bag makes me fee clumsy and complicated. Words like "ordeal" come to mind when I'm schlepping more than one bag. The only solution I've been able to come up with is to ditch everything possible and to make sure I always wear something with pockets.

Do you have to carry your computer or could you just get by with one of those USB storage units?

That's the sad part - I don't carry around a laptop with me. It's just "stuff" like documents I printed out for home, lunch items (both to/from), sometimes when I order on-line I have everything sent to the office, or I go to the drugstore across the street for things on sale. It goes on and on. It's not even something justifiable like a diaper bag!
