Remember that teen movie Heathers? I think that's the first time I heard the time "diet Coke head." That was before I became one myself.
I've been trying to wean myself on and off for the past ten years. Overseas, I couldn't get DC all the time, so I stuck to regular Coke. Warm, from bottles. I've successfully quit a couple of times, only to slide during times of stress. My biggest daily consumption was probably in grad school when I kept a case in my locker. Mind you, I don't drink coffee or tea. So Diet Coke was it.
I'm not as bad as the lady who drinks 12 cans a day. I try to limit myself to four. But it'd be nice, both health-wise and budget-wise, to cease and desist.
Ugh. But I don't want to. *whine*

I feel your pain! I don't drink coffee or tea either, but I have the exact same Coke addiction. Sometimes I quit, but then I get myself started again when I get stressed or when I get lazy. My biggest success was when I came home last year and discovered those single-serving cans of Coke. If those weren't available for some reason, I just started drinking Coke in smaller glasses. That alone cut my Coke consumption in half and I somehow found the self-discipline to drink a glass of water after every Coke. Hydration got addictive and I stopped the Coke almost completely. Then I went to stay with my mom, got stressed out, etc. etc...
