Yesterday I went to El Paso, AR (near Heber Springs) to pick apples with some new friends. It was a beautiful day, the apples (red and golden delicious) were scrumptious straight off the tree and polished on a shirt. Yes, I am carrying my New Yorker tote.

I don't know if you've had this experience, but after being away so long, it's like I've forgotten what Americans look like. Looking at that photo is familiar and alien at the same time.

It *is* weird. Funnily enough about several people in the group immigrated to Arkansas as adults so at least "Americans" are changing.

There were indeed. And thanks to the colleagues who were there, I've been enjoying all these apple-related goodies at work. (Obviously said colleagues are more industrious than I am.)
