I'm updating on last weekend while we're on the cusp of another. The big news is that MoBob left for his big South Africa and Lesotho trip on Wednesday. I am on my own for 10 days. I was a Sad Panda on Wednesday when MB left and I was taking Baby Z home on the metro in the pouring rain. But now spring sunshine has arrived. So far all three of us have been fine. This weekend I'm taking Baby Z to Gymboree for a music class and the DCJCC for baby laptime. One of our Moroccan neighbors offered to babysit so at least I'll have some time to run errands and maybe even sleep.
Last Saturday we ventured into Takoma Park for "petites chansons" ("little songs" or French circle time) at the library. We missed it because of all the road closures for the Rock and Roll Marathon but we talked to Madame who seemed a lot more interactive than the lady at the Alliance Française. We had lunch at the Middle East Cuisine restaurant, where we hadn't been since 2008 when I used to work in the neighborhood. On to Whole Foods, and then Men's Wearhouse for MB's new suit. The sale associate reassured me that little had changed the founder was fired and its acquisition by Jos. A Bank. Then we dropped Baby Z off at the neighbors' for lovely C's 40th birthday party, for which we dressed up in our finest and saluted Miss C with great cheer.
On Sunday I skipped out on stake conference and accompanied MB to a rummage sale at the Washington International Academy. It was as crazy as any souk in Morocco. I bought for Baby Z a picture book about a little girl and her hijab; MB stocked up on bread. On to Macy's for white shirts, Trader Joe's for gifts for MB's colleagues, the grocery store, and the library. Then packing, and re-packing, and a few last kisses and hugs.
