It occurred to me that I hadn't posted about Zacky's baby blessing, which took place in June. A couple of weeks before, Bishop H came over and talked to Mohamed and myself about themes we consider important, which happily came out in the blessing.
Our dear Father in Heaven, we stand before thee at this time as holders of the Melchizedek priesthood, and through the Melchizedek priesthood, and the authority of the Melchizedek priesthood, we give this child in our arms a name. And we give this child the name of Zachariah Salvador Ahammam. At this time we give him a blessing. Zachariah, you are so blessed to come to the home of your loving mother and father who have waited in anticipation for your arrival, who love you so very much. They have opened their arms and home with love and appreciation for your arrival. You have already been a wonderful blessing to them in their home and in their lives. They are so grateful for you and the blessing you are to them, and the blessing you'll be to many people here on this earth. We bless you at this time that you will be a seeker of truth and of righteousness, that you will have the desire to learn, that you will seek learning out of the best books, out of scripture, out of history, out of the lives of those who have gone before you. That you will consider and remember the heritage that you have, both on your mother's side and on your father's. They are good people who have lived on earth and have set a good example for you to follow, and that you will study their lives and you will learn from them. You are blessed and endowed because of their decisions and the things that they have done in preparation for your arrival. We bless you that you will have a strong mind and a desire to learn and be educated. That you will learn all the things that will help you be successful in this life. Mostly that you will be a source of light to your fellow man. That you will strive to use the gifts that you have been given, of the gentle and mild temperament, to be a peacemaker and to be a beacon for others to come to for guidance and stability. As there will be turmoil in the world we bless you that you will be able to be a voice of reason and a voice that people can look to for guidance. We bless you that you will proudly stand as a man in society, that you will be able to represent to others a soft demeanor in that you can through your strength and softness be a guide to others. We bless you that in your life that you will seek to help those who are in need. That you will have compassion. That you will have the ability to recognize others who are suffering, and that you'll be able to come to their aid. We bless you that you will always be a support to your parents who love you, that you will give joy and blessing to them in their lives. We bless you that you will be able to define those things that are important to you in your life and that you will be principled in the decisions that you make. Zacky, what a wonderful blessing you are to your family and to this ward congregation. We are excited to get to get to know you better and have you as part of our ward family and as a wonderful and valiant son of our Father in Heaven. And we bless you with all these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
