I had this irrational hope, based on my extremely regular cycle and my travel schedule, that Bassou would be born on his ordained estimated due date, otherwise known as yesterday, Tuesday, April 2nd. He wasn't. Instead we had my last doctor's appointment where the OB reviewed once again the protocols in case Bassou came on his own or has to be persuaded. She did say however that my body was changing and preparing for his arrival. Well, that's progress.
Out of the 12 ladies in our mommies group, four have already given birth in the past two weeks. Date-wise I'm next. In the meantime I continue to work from home and accomplish all the little projects that never get done otherwise. I really wouldn't call it "nesting" though. It's not as if suddenly I have to clean all the crevices with a toothbrush. It's more like taking care of things that I know will slip by the wayside. Like last night MoBob assembled a swing chair that a kind family loaned to us, and I went through all our spices and made sure everything was properly labeled or tossed. Now I have the time and motivation to do all this.
One thing that I haven't done transform our guest room/office into a nursery. It'll become Bassou's room at some point but not right now. We're planning on keeping Bassou with us in our room in the co-sleeper, and my sister-in-law will stay with us for a couple of months, so I can't imagine that we'll do anything much before the end of summer. We have discussed some ideas, and I know what kind of cradle to get and what other furniture we'll need, like replacing the two separate bookcases with one big one. Otherwise I just can't get into the nursery madness, apart from starting a board on Pinterest.
