voting, etc.

We have a dear friend who passed his US citizenship exam a couple of months ago but doesn't have his naturalization ceremony until after the new year so he can't vote. And he lives in Virginia. MoBob's absentee ballot arrived yesterday and it doesn't seem like he'll be able to vote at the consulate in Casablanca either so that's one less vote in DC. I totally spaced on early voting - it ended on Saturday - I hope there won't be too many lines at the rec center tomorrow morning. Voting is a privilege and an honor.

I forgot another corollary to yesterday's post: becoming colleagues/friends with people whose work I read in grad school. Also a little freaky.

This morning I had the big anatomical sonogram. The technician wasn't able to get everything so I'll be going back again in a couple of weeks. But we definitely confirmed that Bassou is a little boy! When I went to the front desk to confirm my next sonogram appointment, the receptionist informed me that my own ob/gyn has gone into labor. Whoa.

Bassou: we loved you before we knew you.
