Seriously, I will never regain those lost hours spent planning for a shutdown, that in the end didn’t happen.
But the uncertainty was great enough that when I attended the reception for ICAP Mid-Year Reunion at the U.S. Botanic Garden, we were told to end our festivities before midnight in case there was a shutdown. We had a good view of the Capitol all lit up, presumably because of our hardworking members. Then I went home and went to bed, and MoBob woke me up with the news, which I found on email the next morning.

On Saturday evening MB and I went to see Randy Weston's African Rhythms Quartet featuring Lewis Nash at the Kennedy Center. We were in the middle of the middle – if we ever attend another performance in the Terrace Theater, I want seats M-107 and M-108. The concert was great fun, and opened with a musical dialogue between a modern drum set and hand drums.
We got tickets to see the first playoff game between the Caps and the Rangers on Wednesday night!
