I went to see the iconic Obama poster at the National Portrait Gallery. I was surprised at how large the original was and the intricate surface detailing that isn't always reproduced. I also hadn't realized it was a collage.

On the metro I saw a young man whom I assumed from his uniform was a cadet from the Naval Academy in Annapolis. He had a number of duffel bags with him but still looked crisp and clean in white despite traveling on the metro and elsewhere. At one point he took off his hat and I saw that he'd taped a 5x7 photo of a young black boy in a way so that every time he'd take off or put on his hat he'd see the photo. I wanted to ask him about the photo but it was already my stop.

A nagging question upon the second viewing of the new Star Trek movie: in one of the last scenes, why does Admiral Pike still need someone to push his wheelchair? Heck, we have motorized wheelchairs in this timeline.

You've got to provide something for the underlings to do, otherwise they turn into... Kirk.

I actually was able to enjoy the other aspects of the film (like the cinematography) since I wasn't stressed out!
