I saw my former college roommate this morning. I can't believe it's been twenty years since we last met. It was wonderful to see her - she was as lovely as ever, but I think we are both happier and more centered now than our 20 year old selves.

If I could go back in time, I'd like to give my 20 year old self a reassuring hug.

Poetry snippet of the day:

How to Read a Poem: Beginner's Manual
by Pamela Spiro Wagner

Treat a poem like dirt,
humus rich and heavy from the garden.
Later it will become the fat tomatoes
and golden squash piled high upon your kitchen table.

I relate to that. The older I get the more comfortable I am in my own skin, which is ironic considering I'm never going to look like 21 again!

Glad to hear you had a lovely catch up. Always a joy.

I'd rather not think that I'm almost 40!
