Last night’s Enrichment activity was a lot more fun than I’d expected. The committee organized an auction where we bid with points based on a 100 question worksheet. The questionnaire had items like “Did you read the scriptures every day for the past week?” and I discovered that my righteousness level was a measly 61 points.
I’d volunteered MoBob’s services to provide a full course Moroccan dinner which resulted in enthusiastic bidding. I was really surprised though with how fast and furious the bidding was for the several sessions of babysitting. The sisters really got hot and heavy for the last offering which was for overnight babysitting. Hmm…it’s not really motivational for baby-making if all the parents in the room are so eager to get rid of their offspring.
I’d hatched a nefarious plot with my single and childless tablemate to bid up all the babysitting sessions but unfortunately I was found out early by the auctioneer, who not only is a square-dancing buddy but my former bishop.
Babysitting is a popular prize because it's always awesome to have an actual adult watch your kids (instead of a 13 or 14 year old who will IM all night long). And an overnight offer? Wow, that is virtually priceless!
Although, personally, I'd go for the Moroccan food any day of the week :)
