score!

I can't believe I forgot to post about this the day of, and I'm sure I'm jinxing myself, but: we got tickets to the inauguration!

I'd emailed my bishop way back in August about getting tickets, since he works on the Hill and I'd heard from other friends that all the Congress and Senate offices get tickets. I'd already been to the Clinton II inauguration in 1997 and I made the pitch that this was more for MoBob than me. You know - for his civic education. Then last week I got an email from Bishop P. asking if I was still interested, and he'd set aside two tickets to the reserved SRO section on the Mall. Yippee! We'll have them over for Moroccan food but I don't think it'll be an even exchange.

More random:
* Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
* Afghanistan will sign the treaty to ban cluster munitions.
* Someone on LJ had season tickets for the Caps and was selling tickets for the games she couldn't go to at a good discount, so we're going to see the Caps play the Maple Leafs (not "leaves") on the 28th.

An aside: I worked in Toronto last year at the convention center downtown. It's right next to Maple Leafs Centre (or whatever they call it) and of course the Space Needle. The one bit of free time I had to go touristing was during dinner one evening, so I walked over and had dinner on top of the Needle. From my seat, I could look down on the top of Maple Leafs Centre and see the big maple leaf in red lights that they had decorated the top of it with! It was so cool!
