I had a great time at the Exponent II retreat. Granted, it wasn't relevatory for me but then I've been fortunate to have always had people around me with whom I can discuss "how to be a feminist in a patriarchal church." I really felt for some of the women who said that the annual retreat was a lifeline for them. I was definitely replenished and inspired, though it did turn out that I was the only dark and lovely type. (Apparently a Pacific Islander woman was registered but canceled at the last minute.) The youngest woman was 17 and the oldest in her 80s, with a good mix of singles and marrieds, and quite a few mother-daughter pairs. It was a real thrill for me to meet women I'd only known on email or in the Bloggnernacle. And they knew of me too! Unfortunately Laurel Thatcher Ulrich was unable to make it due to another commitment. Maybe next year.

Sylvia!! It was great to meet you. Where are all the other "dark and lovely" Mormon feminists, anyway?
