It is over 100 degrees here. The heat isn't as much of a problem as the lack of hot weather infrastructure. Like, say, air-conditioning. At least it's not humid.

My train trip from Brussels to Lyon involved a transfer at Paris-CDG airport. That was very painful. For some reason crucial information, like does the train that says it's going to Montpellier stop at Paris-CDG and is therefore the train I should get on? is not displayed. Neither is the number of the track the train is arriving at until about 30 seconds before it actually arrives. Plus there's never enough room for baggage. To complicate matters during the summer there are always huge families barreling through on their way back to Martinique or Cotonou or Yerevan with gifts for everyone in their village. I was behind a guy who'd just gotten off the plane from Beijing (I'd sneaked a peak at his luggage tags) who had about 8 different boxes of who knows what. He got through customs anyway.

But I'm here, and people seem happy enough to see me, and it's sales season.

Mustn't grumble!
