At least it didn't rain this year, for the Philippine Fair and Parade. Everyone must have come in from the 'burbs because I certainly don't see many in town. We stuffed ourselves with adobo (chicken for MoBob, pork for me) and walked around and watched the parade. The biggest cheers were for the Fil-Am vets who looked hardy despite their advanced age and the heat. Unfortunately the camera ran out of juice so no photos.

The best part though was the halo-halo.

Oh! I wish I could have been there! I've been really missing the Philippines lately and I absolutely crave some good adobo like Tita Rose makes. I'm hoping to fudge up a recipe for chicken Bacolod soon - it's just hard to find calamansi, even frozen calamansi juice, around here.

Yeah, lemon juice just doesn't cut it. Even here in DC either I have to mail order or make a long trek into the suburbs.
