The number of my Facebook friends has reached 200. It's a little disconcerting to have a hard number referring to actual relationships. Happily it's a good mix of people: church, Cal, SAIS, work, Little Rock, Peace Corps. I've met the majority, which is the opposite of my friends status on LiveJournal. There are even some folks I hadn't seen in 20+ years. Wow. Am I that old? (Of course I am. I just went to my 20th high school reunion in October. Duh.)
MoBob's been sucked in too - we have quite a bit of overlap but he's back in touch with folks he knew from Peace Corps/Burkina Faso and getting into the Morocco network.
Of course if we went out and actually saw the people we know on Facebook in the flesh we'd be a lot more social.
LOL, my facebook is worse than my LJ in that regard. I only use it to play poker, and all my friends are my poker buddies.
I'm proud to say I've kept in touch with everyone worth keeping in touch with. Add to the mix my distaste of putting my real name out there in the nets and sharing other personal information (I even avoid using my credit card -I usually withdraw money and pay cash), the result becomes no virtual social networking.
Oh, and I love belly-dancing. Watching, I mean. Have you seen The Fire of Anatolia? Highly recommended.
