* Inbox Zero
I've been pretty good at this, but I have the advantage of time zones, where by lunch time the email frenzy has calmed down. Corollary is "answer each email within 24 hours."

* a clean desk
I only have: my computer & accessories, a decorated cup from Morocco for my pens & pencils, a coaster and a plastic glass, a basket of scrap paper, the phone, and a rolodex file. I have an inbox on the file cabinet in the opposite corner from my desk, and in the bookcase behind me I have a tray labeled "today" and another labeled "this week." Everything else is filed away.

* frequent breaks
Every hour to stretch or chat with my colleagues and then a walk at lunch time. I put reminders in Outlook which I'm sure will drive me batty by tomorrow.

Take a deep yoga breath: "Serenity Now!"

clean desk
A colleague taught me never to touch a piece of paper twice--when something comes in deal with it, file it, toss it, whatever but don't put it on your desk to deal with later. I'm about 90% successful at doing that.
