During our evening strolls MoBob and I are always curious about the interiors of the houses we're passing by. We live in a fairly affluent area so of course what we can see of inside reflects the education and income levels of the residents. Hence, lots of book-lined walls, low, discreet lighting, a plasma TV mounted on high, and some sort of ethnic or international accent.

One house we're particularly curious about features a chiwara in its window. Another house emanates Moroccan music and tagine scents. We can often tell who has kids and/or pets, what hobbies or interests, or gauge the interest in gardening.

Sometimes for giggles when I'm walking down our street I pretend that I'm a stranger in these parts and I happen upon our apartment - I see the warm glow through the shades and hear jazz or rai playing on the stereo and the silhouette of the mint plant on the window - I think, Gosh, these people are lucky. Indeed we are.

I love walking in the evening when all the homes are lit up and the windows are wide open. I like it even better when people are cooking and you can get little passing hints of what they are making...it always makes me feel like I am somehow a part of their lives if only for a couple of seconds :)

Cool, I've been looking for someone who might have an opinion on "Hors de Prix" ... good? bad?
